Steer the dot-eater through the maze with !up, !down, !left, !right. Spawn extra ghosts to make the run impossible. Drop cherries for bonus points. This chat-controlled maze-runner overlay turns the whole stream into an arcade run, with the audience driving every move and chaos buttons sitting on cooldowns to keep the bit alive.

It is free with Meld Studio. No watermark, no per-stream cap, no setup before the first dot.

How chat plays

Four steering commands cover the basics. !up, !down, !left, and !right move the dot-eater through the maze, with chat collectively choosing the next direction in real time. The collaborative input gives every run its own rhythm: a focused chat threads the maze cleanly, a chaotic one whiffs corners and feeds the ghosts.

Two chaos commands sit on top. !ghost spawns an extra ghost on a 20-second cooldown, raising the difficulty for everyone watching. !cherry drops a cherry for bonus points, also on a 20-second cooldown. The cooldowns are the design choice that keeps the overlay playable across a long stream. Steering stays responsive while the special effects pace themselves, so the bit never collapses into spam.

A classic Pac-Man-style maze is one of the few game shapes every viewer recognizes on sight. New chatters need no explanation. They watch the dot-eater move, type a direction, and they are part of the run. Regulars learn the rhythm of when to call !ghost for chaos and when to lay off so the run can survive a few more dots.

Chat from Twitch, YouTube Live, and Kick all feeds the same maze. Meld also pulls TikTok Live chat through the same unified connection, so a multi-platform audience plays one shared run instead of fragmenting into separate arcades.

When to use it

The overlay is built to take over a full scene. Variety streamers, retro-themed nights, and arcade-styled blocks are the natural fits. It also works as a stream-opening warm-up where viewers arriving early steer a few rounds while you finish setup, and as a marathon-stream side activity that lives in its own scene chat can switch into during breaks.

The cooldown-gated chaos commands give it longevity. A bit that would burn out in fifteen minutes if anyone could spam !ghost stays interesting across hours because the audience has to ration the chaos.

Customizing with Meld Spark

The default maze runs ready to play. Meld Spark, the AI overlay editor inside Meld Studio, lets you reshape the look and the balance from plain English. A prompt like “Retint the maze to purple, shorten the ghost spawn to 10 seconds, and swap Pac-Man for a mini version of my logo” applies on the spot. You can rebalance the cooldowns, recolor the maze, or swap the dot-eater for your own avatar, with the change persisting between sessions.

Adding it to your stream

Download Meld Studio and the maze overlay drops into a scene with no configuration, with chat connections already linked from a single sign-in. If you already run OBS, the free Spark Plug for OBS plugin loads the same overlay as a browser source inside your existing OBS scene, with the same steering commands and the same cooldown-gated chaos buttons.

Use cases

  • A whole-stream side activity that runs in the corner

The overlay is built to take over the entire scene as an arcade run that lives alongside whatever else is happening. Chat steers the maze run while the main game plays in another scene, and the cooldown-gated chaos commands keep the bit from going stale across a multi-hour session.

  • Variety streamers and arcade-themed nights

For variety streamers, retro-themed nights, or anyone running an arcade-styled scene, a classic maze-runner-style game is the centerpiece chat already understands. Steering commands are universal, the ghost-and-cherry chaos buttons add personality, and the bit reads instantly to anyone landing on the channel.

Frequently asked questions

Is the chat-controlled arcade game free?

Yes. Chat Pac-Man is included free with Meld Studio. There is no paywall, no watermark, and no per-stream usage cap. Drop it into a scene and chat can start steering the moment the maze loads.

How does chat steer the run?

Viewers steer with !up, !down, !left, and !right to move through the maze. Two extra commands add chaos on cooldowns: !ghost spawns an extra ghost on a 20-second cooldown, and !cherry drops a cherry for bonus points on its own 20-second cooldown.

Why are the ghost and cherry commands on cooldowns?

The 20-second cooldown on !ghost and !cherry keeps a busy chat from spamming the chaos buttons until the maze is unplayable. Steering commands have no cooldown, so movement stays responsive, and the special effects pace themselves naturally across the run.

Which platforms can my viewers play from?

Twitch, YouTube Live, and Kick are all supported. Meld signs you in once and pulls chat from every platform you stream to, so steering and chaos commands from all platforms feed the same maze in real time. TikTok Live chat works too through Meld's unified chat connections.

Does this work with OBS Studio?

Yes. Spark Plug for OBS loads the maze overlay into your existing OBS scene as a browser source, and Meld Spark lets you retint the maze, change the cooldowns, or swap Pac-Man for your own avatar from a plain-English prompt in seconds. No code, no migration.

Can I change the look or the cooldowns?

Yes. Meld Spark, the AI overlay editor included with Meld Studio, handles cosmetic and balance changes from a single prompt. Something like "Retint the maze to purple, shorten the ghost spawn to 10 seconds, and swap Pac-Man for a mini version of my logo" rewrites the visuals and the cooldown values at once.
