A message from the team

Our commitment to creators

As streamers ourselves, we are glad Meld Spark is driving conversations about AI use in creative spaces. They are important in advocating for regulations as these models continue to be built. We are confident that Meld Spark will be an extension of what you already do, and many who were skeptical have been pleased with our efforts to make it a tool that brings your creativity to life, not replace it. We hope you'll experience its magic for yourself.

01

Meld Spark doesn't make art, it writes code.

When you prompt Meld Spark, it builds an HTML, CSS, and JavaScript layer that adds visuals to your stream in response to chat events, subscriptions, and alerts. The output is a code layer, not an image.

Meld Spark can work with assets you upload like moving them, adding filters, and animating them, but it can't use those assets to generate new artwork to replicate an artist's style. If you upload a commissioned emote, Meld Spark can make it bounce across the screen or react to a subscription. It can't create a new emote based on the art style. That's not a limitation we're working around, it's how we designed Meld Spark to work.

02

How Meld Spark works

Your creative direction drives everything. Meld Spark responds to your descriptions and ideas. It doesn't create them on its own. It takes what you give it and helps you execute faster than you could alone.

Meld Spark is powered by Google Gemini Flash. It has not been fine tuned or additionally trained beyond a set of instructions that teaches it how to work inside Meld. That's it. Google Gemini is not trained on your responses in Meld Spark under our current API agreement.

03

Meld Spark is always optional

Meld Spark is a separate feature in Meld Studio. It's never required to use with Meld, and never going to quietly appear in your workflow. Build the way you've always built. Meld Spark is here if and when you want it.

04

Meld Spark runs on servers, not computers

Meld Spark does all of its work in the cloud, not on your machine. That means your GPU, CPU, and computer performance aren't used to create Meld Spark Elements.

05

What we store and why

Your prompts and the elements Meld Spark creates are stored on our end. We do this for two reasons: so you have a full history of your chats and creations to come back to, and so we can understand how Meld Spark is being used to make it better over time.

Under our current API agreement, your data is not used to train the underlying model. We may use aggregated, non-identifiable usage data to improve Meld Spark. When your data is tied to your account, it's because that's what makes your history accessible to you. Any data used to improve our service is processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

06

Environmental impact

The environmental impact of AI is an unsolved problem, and most companies aren't transparent about it. Meld Spark runs on Google Cloud infrastructure, which is committed to operating on carbon-free energy. We chose Google Cloud because they publish actual data about their efforts. That's not a complete answer, but it's an honest one. You can read their research at Measuring the environmental impact of AI.

07

Our commitments going forward

We're not going to get everything right on day one, and we know that. What we're committing to is being honest when things change, listening when creators raise concerns, and keeping this page updated as Meld Spark grows.

We also believe the industry-wide conversations about AI accountability matter, and we want Meld to be held to the same standard we'd expect from anyone else building these tools.
