Late April 2023 Update

Late April 2023 Update

This is a patch release which addresses issues reported by users.

Notable Fixes

  • Attempting to load a mov file encoded as ProRes into the media player no longer crashes.
    • We now recover from this and present an error. We will investigate adding ProRes decoding support in a future release.
    • As a temporary measure, we recommend converting the ProRes file into either H264 or H265 codec for playback. Handbrake is one of many free tools that can help with this.
  • Resolved a potential crash when using the Clock plugin and switching between scenes.
  • Attempting to record to a directory that no longer exists could cause a crash
    • This can happen when an external USB drive used for recording storage has been removed.
    • We now show you a message when we have detected this and recover from the issue.
  • Attempting to go live on older Apple hardware with a dedicated AMD GPU could result in a crash at stream startup.
    • We were relying on a specific property being available on the encoder to achieve constant bitrate. Older hardware does not support this property so we now work around this using our own rate-control method that allows us to emulate the behavior available on newer hardware.
  • Adding a new media playback layer to the current scene would create the audio track with the volume slider pulled all the way down. We now smoothly fade in the volume the same way we handle other layers with audio.
